Lotto millionaire is selling his Grimsby mansion for £1.125.000

When Roy Gibney scooped the amazing jackpot worth £7.5000.000 two decades ago, he did all the things you’d expect from a major lotto winner. He enjoyed his financial freedom and splashed out significant amounts of money on a few lavish properties, including his luxurious villa in Grimsby. The fortunate man is finally ready to let someone else spend their days in his opulent mansion, but the new owner has to cash out £1.125.000 in order to do so.

When Gibney purchased the property known by the name the Brambles after his big win in 1998, it cost him £375.000. He lived in a two-bedroom home before buying it, and said he still feels fond of his old house. Becoming £7.5000.000 richer meant he can move wherever he wants, so he traded it for 17.6 acres of land in Barnoldby le Beck.

The home features two reception rooms, two dining rooms, sitting room, kitchen, games room, three bathrooms and six bedrooms. The list of amenities includes steam room, hot tub, gym, bar, mini cinema, tennis court and fishing lake. One of the most striking parts is the indoor swimming pool, which comes with his winning numbers tiled at the bottom.

“When I won I enjoyed all the luxuries you would expect of a lottery winner. Nowadays I don’t indulge myself quite as much as I used to but still enjoy the carefree life winning has given me. I spilt my time between my villa in Cyprus and Britain,” explained Gibney.

Apart from investing significant amount of money in his Grimsby villa, the fortunate man also bought a social football club, started his own sheet metal company with his old work buddy Dave Fenwick, and invested in a number of properties in both Grimsby and Nairn. He also enjoys supporting his local community as often as he can.

“I also feel it was important to give back and have supported many charities – whether it’s running charity fishing days or dressing up as Father Christmas for the local hospital,” said Gibney.
